Bubbleworld welcomes you . . .

Imagine Mos Eisley, from Star Wars Episode IV. Now replace all the sci-fi technology with various forms of magic---ancient and no longer understood, or elegantly crafted, or simple but brutally effective. The Crimson Guard nominally prevents things from getting out of hand, but there are too few of them and too many, well, of everybody else. Mostly, the Crimson Guard keeps the Nobles' District peaceful and accepts bribes from everybody else. Unless you're rich, there's only one person looking out for you.

Before the Bubble, the guard would have kept things under better control by forcing most of the riff-raff out of town. Alas, with everyone stuck inside the Bubble, quality of life has really degraded. Sure, the library still has a lot of books in it, but that's only because it is protected by ancient wards. There are still a few crimes that will get you marked though---and consequently exiled.

Yeah, life is rough, but it could be worse. You could be stuck outside the Bubble. Outside the protective barrier, where who knows what is rampaging. At least here, the sky is always rosy and you have a shot at getting by. Out there the cursed gods are trying to kill each other.
