Fort Collins, CO

We visited so many sights while we stayed in Fort Collins that I had to break them up into multiple pages (see the Rocky Mountain National Park, Lake Agnes, and Vedaewou pages). Somehow I forgot to jot down my impressions of the Fort Collins area; even more amazing, I still remember them. The area is quite dry and is technically high mountain desert. Yet many many people are setting up large beautiful houses in the area and paying for water to be piped over the mountains. "Why?" you might ask. First, the scenery. I love mountains and that would almost be enough to get me out there. Second, climate. The area is dry, as in very little snow and rain. Almost always beautiful. Even when you're up in the mountains, a storm will come through quickly and continue on its merry way. Check out the difference in the cloud cover in the Estes Park pictures below---they were taken literally within half an hour of each other.
