We drove out to Badlands National Park and drove around the loop looking at formations. Wow. They were stunning. We also saw a buffalo and a prairie dog (at close proximity, maybe 10 feet) at the expansive prairie dog town. The contrast between the rolling plains on one side of the road and the bad lands on the other blows my mind.
Again in the evening the weather tried to spoil our efforts to cook, appearing on the scene with another long and powerful lightning storm. In the end we persevered.
